ForcedSkin About ForcedSkin
A browser theming platform that applies your favorite light or dark palette to any website β no site cooperation required.
What is ForcedSkin?
ForcedSkin (forcedskin.com) is a browser theming platform for everyday browsing. It combines a Chrome extension with a community-driven website: browse and collect color themes, pick light and dark palettes, and let the extension inject styling into web pages via CSS. Popular sites can receive fine-tuned adapters from the community for a more natural look.
Website (forcedskin.com)
The website is the hub for themes, adapters, and your account. You can use it without installing the extension, but signing in unlocks sync to the browser.
Theme Marketplace
Browse official and community light/dark palettes. Favorite themes and set your active light and dark choices β they sync to the signed-in extension.
Site Adapters
Community-maintained JSON formulas that refine how ForcedSkin paints specific websites. Submit new adapters for review, or browse existing ones.
Account & Sync
Sign in with GitHub or Google to save favorites, track submissions, and keep your chosen themes consistent across devices via the extension.
Authoring Guides
Step-by-step documentation for designing theme JSON and writing adapter formulas (forcedskin-adapter-formula/v1).
Browser Extension
The ForcedSkin extension runs on Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Arc, etc.) and applies your theme as pages load.
Force recolor any site
Overrides page background, text, and UI colors using CSS variables and inline styles β works even when a site has no dark mode.
Light, dark, auto, or off
Switch between light and dark palettes, follow local time (light ~6:00β18:00), or disable theming to keep the original site style.
Per-site whitelist
Add domains to a whitelist so those sites keep their native appearance while everything else uses your theme.
Account sync
After signing in on forcedskin.com, sync your theme catalog and adapter list from the popup β changes on the website reflect in the extension.
Adapter builder
Pick elements on a page to report styling issues and help draft adapter formulas. Useful for contributors improving site-specific support.
Supports Chrome, Edge, Arc, and other Chromium-based browsers.
